Betty Rodgers Obituary

Betty Jane Rodgers, 94, of Enola passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 14  at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, Pa.  She was born December 19, 1923 in  Shamokin, Pa., daughter to the late Richard John Lubnow and Jane Ann (Waugh) Lubnow.  She graduated from Coal Township High School and studied stenography.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Billy Webster Rodgers; their son, Daniel Richard Rodgers; siblings William August Lubnow, Leona May Young, George Frederick Lubnow, and Gloria Charmaine Wilson.

She married Billy W. Rodgers on December 27, 1941 and traveled with him whenever possible throughout World War II and Korean War.  Betty was very active in the Girl Scouts of America as a leader and a director for many years.  She was employed by the former Harris Savings and Loan as a Branch Manager and Mortgage Counselor.  Betty loved to be active in her community in Enola and was very civic minded.  She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) and the PTA and was also an avid gardener.  Betty was very close to her daughter and grandchildren and enjoyed traveling and spending time with them, whenever possible.

She is survived by her daughter Danielle Dee Wise and husband James L., grandson Kurt Alan Wagner and partner Eric P. Hoffer, granddaughter Taryn Meg Donahue and husband Steven C., step-grandchildren Oliver James Wise and wife Ericalyn, Amy Elizabeth Wise and great granddaughter Kyla Ann Wise, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 19 at 12:00 pm at the West Shore Country Club, located at 100 Brentwater Rd., Camp Hill.  Timothy Nickel, the Masonic Village Hospice Chaplain, will officiate.  A lunch will follow the service.

A private interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa. at a later date.
