Noel J. Egan

Noel Jean Egan died peacefully and unexpectedly in her home in Mechanicsburg on November 13th, 2019. She was the daughter of David Egan and Mary Bitner Egan, the sister of Connie Egan, and the favorite aunt of David, Will, and Abram Spritzler.

Noel graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1965, and continued to meet with classmates throughout her life. She had a passion for floral design, which she learned while working in the Flower Gallery in Harrisburg.  She later worked for many years as medical assistant at the Internists of Central Pennsylvania.

Noel was a lifelong member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.  She served on the Mission Committee, sang in the choir, attended Bible study, and chauffeured senior citizens to services (often joining them for long lunches afterward).

When her mother suffered a disabling stroke, Noel cared for her at home.  Noel was also devoted to her many animals, including shelter dogs and an entire litter of stray cats.  

Noel found outlets for her abundant creativity in her baking, gardening, and flower arranging.  

Noel was funny, smart, generous, and loving— the type of person we all want to be.  “She was the kindest person I ever met,” her nephew, David, said and his brothers agree. Noel was actively interested in her nephews’ lives and cherished the time she spent with them. She cared tremendously for her family and friends, and worked tirelessly to help them in every way she could. She will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life for Noel will be held Saturday, December 28th, 2019 at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 22 Salt Road in Enola, PA, 17025. Hours—10am for visiting, 11am for service. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to her church or your favorite charity.
