S. Wayne Landis Jr., 69, originally from Dauphin and most recently of Duncannon, PA entered eternal life with our Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in Hershey Medical Center after a brief illness.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Suzanne E. McNeely Landis; daughter, Christie Young (Joseph Caswell, fiancé);son, Matthew Landis (Sarah Basile Landis, wife) and grandchildren Tyler (Kelsie, fiancé), Kylie, Wyatt and Anthony. Additional family include:sister, Donna Murphy;brother, David Landis (Mary);sister-in-laws, Deb Landis, Linda Gipe (Jack), Kay Eshenour and Rosemarie McNeely; brother-in-law,Kim McNeely; aunts, Aretta Landis Perdigao (Antonio) and Helen Bowman, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents S. Wayne, Sr. and Ona Bowman Landis, two sisters, Carol Radle and Patricia Landis, a brother, Timothy Landis, and brother-in-laws, James Murphy and Keith McNeely.
Wayne and Susie have an amazing tendency to “adopt” sons and daughters in many facets of their lives – so he is survived by many bar children, sons and daughters that knew he was a safe shoulder to lean on. We wish to extend appreciation to Annette Mullen for the support she provided in his final days. Not all family is related through blood.
Wayne graduated from Central Dauphin High School and was in the U.S. Navy for six years. He was a Vietnam era veteran.
Wayne was a member of the American Legion 910, Lickdale; Steelton-Swatara Lodge #775, Oberlin; and Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Millersburg Forest #125.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Breakthrough Church located 616 New Bloomfield Road, Duncannon. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of the service. There will be a reception at the Duncannon EMS, 16 Shermanata Drive, Duncannon. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to the church or the EMS.
