Douglas Morrow Obituary

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas L. Morrow, 55, of New Cumberland. He passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022, in Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill, surrounded by his loving family. He was a bright light in this world that will be deeply missed by many. Doug graduated from Camp Hill High School in the Class of 1985, where he participated in both wrestling and football. Professionally, he was the Director of Business Development for BMS CAT/Mellon Certified Restoration. He was serving his second term as Mayor of New Cumberland; was the President of Friends of the West Shore Theatre; and served on the board for the Bob Craig Youth Foundation. Through the years, Doug was a coach for Good Sheppard football; for the Camp Hill elementary wrestling program; and for the American Legion baseball team Post 143. He served as a firefighter and board member for the New Kingstown Fire Department and served on the Pride of the Susquehanna. He also was a member of the Camp Hill Lion’s Club; served on the Camp Hill Borough Council; and served as the former Mayor of Camp Hill. One of Doug’s favorite places to spend his summers was at Tuckahoe Acres on the Indian River Bay. He loved nothing more than sitting on his deck in his director’s chair, listening to Johnny Cash, and chatting with fellow campers. When chatting with Doug, it was obvious that he was a great storyteller because he never failed to have those around him in tears from laughing so hard. Doug infamously spent his lunch hour at his favorite restaurant, Nick’s 114, where he would chat with friends and fellow New Cumberland residents, and he spent his evenings watching his favorite television programs, Green Acres and The Andy Griffith Show. He also looked forward to notoriously visiting the old timers at Semoff’s Barber Shop every week. However, there was nothing more he treasured than the time he got to spend with his wife, daughter, pets, and his family, especially when watching Penn State wrestling or attending the NCAA wrestling. Doug is survived by his adoring wife of 30 years, Pamela L.  Morrow; daughter Becca Myers (Steven); father Edward Morrow; mother Alice Meyers; brothers Michael Morrow (Barb), Edward “Scott” Morrow (Marta), and Eric Morrow (Anne); and six nieces and nephews. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm with memorial service beginning at 7:30 pm in the Hillside Elementary School, 516 7th St. New Cumberland, PA 17070. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Doug’s memory are respectfully encouraged to Bob Craig Youth Foundation, P.O. Box 46, Camp Hill, PA 17011 or Friends of the West Shore Theatre, P.O. 643 New Cumberland, PA 17070.
