Frank Dougherty Obituary

Frank Dougherty, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, PA, and raised in Newark, NJ, Frank was the son of the late Robert and Rhoda Dougherty.

Frank was a graduate of Bloomfield Tech, class of '65, and went on to serve his nation proudly in the Navy. After his military service, he dedicated himself to a long and fulfilling career at The Patriot News, where he worked diligently for over 30 years before retiring. Frank's strong work ethic was matched only by his dedication to his family.

He is survived by his daughters Kathleen Place and Chantalene Lawson, his brother Robert Dougherty, and seven grandchildren, Lily Anderson, Molly Place, Eloise Place, Henri Place, Charlie Place, Elijah Lawson and Ezekiel Lawson. He was preceded in death by his brother Jay Dougherty.

Throughout his life, Frank found joy in various pursuits. He was an avid motorcycle rider, often participating in rides with the Patriot Guard Riders. He had a passion for restoring and driving antique cars. In his younger years, Frank selflessly served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, demonstrating his commitment to helping others in times of need. He took great pride in supporting his grandchildren in their endeavors, whether it was cheering them on at sporting events, attending dance recitals or celebrating their school achievements.

Frank cherished the camaraderie of his friends at the Enola American Legion, where he spent many memorable days. Known for his infectious smile and warm personality, Frank lived his life with a deep appreciation for friendship and community.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm, followed by a service starting at 8 pm at Richardson Funeral Home LLC, located at 29 S. Enola Dr. Enola.
