George Erford Obituary

George W. Erford, 81 of Enola passed away Tuesday January 30, 2024 in his home with his family by his side. George was the son of the late Wayne A. and Erma (Rudy) Erford. George retired from PPL and worked for F.M. Oppel delivering water to residents, Volunteered at New Hope Ministries food bank driving truck and also worked part time at Bobby Rahal Lexus. George was a life time member and Financial Secretary for the former Midway Fire Company and current Enola Fire Company #3. He also served as the East Pennsboro Firefighter’s Relief Association Treasurer for many years, was a life time member of Zion Lutheran Church of Enola on the property and finance committee and was a member of the  PPL live wires retirees group. George is survived by his wife Ella Mae (Steever) Erford his stepchildren, Lori (Kirby) Hoke of Enola, John (Polly) Cohick Jr. of Enola , grandchildren, Chris (Heather) Bittinger, Stephen Bittinger, Brandi Cobaugh, Tyler Cohick, great- grandchildren, Natalie, Lucas, Carson and Harper Bittinger, nieces, Michelle Roach and Karen Hawbaker. He was preceded in death by a grandchild Nathan Cohick, a step son William Cohick, and a sister Sheila Souders. A viewing will be held Thursday February 8, 2024 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church Enola, 22 Salt Rd. Enola, PA 17025. Services will follow at 10:00 at the church. Burial will follow at the Enola Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Enola Fire Company #3 118 Chester Rd. Enola, PA 17025.
