Harry John Smith, Jr, 69, of Enola, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2023, surrounded by his daughters. He was born January 25, 1954 to Harry J. Sr, and Alice C. (Pierce) Smith.
Harry was self-employed as a landscaper. He Harry, affectionately known as “Johnnie,” was a loving father, devoted husband, and a cherished friend to many. He dedicated twenty-five years of service as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. Serving and caring for others was deeply important to him.
Harry was a man who loved the roar of a Nascar engine, and the thrill of a close race. He loved the spectacle of WWE, the drama, and the excitement of the sport. He also enjoyed street stock racing and watching the races at Silver Spring Speedway.
One of his favorite hobbies was playing the drums. He honed his skills beginning early as a child banging on pots and pans with a broomstick. Eventually, he grew as a musician and found joy playing in a band named D.O.A., where he enjoyed many memories.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Sr., and Alice Smith. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Rosanne, and his children, Jamie (Brian) of Camp Hill, and Christie (Bryan) of Dillsburg; his grandchildren, Ayden, Natalie, Alana and Ryan, as well as his great grandson, Grayson. He is also survived by his two sisters, Karen Shapiro (Bob), and Harrietta Wentz (Jim), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, in Enola, PA with Pastor Mindi Gochnaur officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be directly following services at Perry Heights Cemetery in Marysville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in loving memory of Harry, in the care of his daughter, Christie Yanez.
Harry's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Hospice Care of Central Pennsylvania for their compassionate care during his final days and to Richardson Funeral Home LLC Enola for assisting the family with final arrangements. Harry's life was a testament to his faith, his love for his family, and his commitment to his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
