Joseph Ruelius Obituary

Joseph M. Ruelius, 63, of Enola and formerly of Dillsburg passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Penn State Hampden Medical Center, Mechanicsburg. Joe was a graduate of Northern High School in Dillsburg and Penn State Middletown. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Paula (Miller) Ruelius of Enola, his father Richard Ruelius of Mechanicsburg, brother Anthony Ruelius of Mechanicsburg and step-son Benjamin Mutzbaugh of New York City, also nephew Jon Orr and wife Cara, niece Theresa Rine and husband Rick, niece Emily Pusatere, nephew Gary Shoemaker and wife Leslie and nephew Kyle Foy, great-nephews, Conner, Karson and Joshua, great nieces, Josephine, Addison, Sierra and Brylee. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Ruelius, brother Michael Ruelius, Sister Catherine Orr and nephew Mark Ruelius. Joe was employed at AMP/Tyco for 22 years where he was a Design Drafter and product Engineer. He was a member of the AMP Softball League and AMP Golf League. He retired from the Pennsylvania State Department of Transportation. Joe volunteered as the treasurer of the Kidney Foundation of Central PA for many years, was a speaker for the Gift of Life Donor program and participated in golf and bowling in six National Kidney Foundations Transplant Games of America. Joe was a successful kidney/pancreas recipient since 1995. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and being with family and friends. He had a clever sense of humor and he made people smile. Joe was a member of the Summerdale United Methodist Church for over 30 years, serving on the Administrative Council and various committees. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Contributions can be made to his church at SUMC 203 second St. East Pennsboro, PA 17025. A celebration of life will be held Sunday June 26, 2022 at 2:00 pm.in his church, 203 Second St. East Pennsboro  PA 17025. A visitation will be held after service from 2:30 pm until 4:00 pm.
