Keith Petty Obituary

Keith "Kappy" Alan Petty, of Summerdale, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 14, 2018. He was born July 9, 1954, in Baltimore, to the late Elizabeth and William Petty and was preceded in death by brothers Kevin and Bill Petty.
Always the most endearing and loving family man, Keith is survived by his wife Elsie; siblings Deb Nadge (Doug) and Barb Shaw; children Elliott Petty (Misty), Michelle Gibson (Jamie), Jeff Kauffman (Mina), John Kauffman (Heather), and Danielle Love (Eric); 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends the world over.
Keith was a retired Veteran, former Merchant Marine, retired Norfolk Southern engineer, and the Steelers #1 fan (yes, it's in print, so it's true.) Known for his love of the outdoors and wonderful sense of humor, Keith was an avid boatsman, fisherman, motorcycle enthusiast, and family man.  He also enjoyed talking about his love of outdoors, boats, fish, motorcycles, family, and just about anything else he could think of – and there is little doubt among the many who knew and loved him that he is continuing those conversations with some lucky souls somewhere right now.  Keith was a member of ABATE, The American Legion Post 751, the River Rats, and a devoted member of the Harrisburg Steelers Fan Club.  But above all else, he was a wonderful man with a heart as big as they come.

Family and friends were blessed by the joy in his smile and unwavering love of people. A Celebration of Life will be planned in the near future. Smile as you remember this incredible man – he’d want it that way.
