Reverend Dr. (Colonel) Calvin H. Cole Sr., 79, formerly of Bethany Beach, Delaware
passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 in the Church of God Home, Carlisle. Calvin was
the son of the Late Franklin and Elsie (Wertmiller) Cole. He was preceded in death by
8-siblings and 2-sons; Russell and Kevin Cole. Reverend Cole was a graduate of Lebanon
college, where he received an Honorary Doctorate, and was a graduate of the United Theological
Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Reverend Cole served as a charge Minister at Otterbein Memorial,
Baltimore, Md., Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland, PA. He was the District
Superintendent of Untied Methodist Ministries of Central PA, Grace United Methodist Church,
Harrisburg, PA , Messiah United Methodist Church of York, PA, and served as the Chaplain in
the 28th Division Infantry of the U.S. Army Reserves where he retired at the rank of Colonel.
He was a former member of York Lions Club, Former President of Clearwater Home Association,
Frankford, Delaware, and the American Legion Post 751, Enola, PA.
Reverend Cole retired to his home in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Calvin was always loved by his family,
friends, and parishioners. He was always willing to give time, advise, and friendship to all. Reverend
Cole will be remembered for his special Oratory skills from the Pulpit, applying the scriptures to current
every day life of all of his congregations and family. He is survived by his wife Janet L. (Miller) Cole, his
two son's; Calvin Cole Jr. and wife Elizabeth, Richard and partner John, and a daughter, Kimberly,
Konstanzer, 5-Grandchildren, and 9-Great-Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in the Richardson Funeral Home, Enola. Viewings will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2018 and from 10:00 AM until time of services Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full Military honors.
