(Young) Cassel, who preceded him in death, as did his only brother, Edward Daniel “Bean” Cassel, Jr. Bob was raised in Enola, and was a member of the East Pennsboro High School Class of 1961 and greatly enjoyed breakfast and dinner gatherings with classmates. Bob retired as East Pennsboro Township Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent after 42 years of service. Later he worked part time with the Parks Department. An avid golfer for many years, Bob played regularly on local courses and traveled with friends each year to play the Myrtle Beach, SC courses until his health declined. Bob was happy in the garden and was affectionately named “Mr. Miyagi” for raising Bonsai plants. Older country and gospel songs were his favorites. He knew the lyrics and sang along with many tunes, and he claimed a front row rocking chair in the audience at one weekly jam. Bob was extremely proud that all three sons served in the military, and honored their service by joining the American Legion Post 751 (Enola) as a social member. In his younger days, Bob played football and coached baseball teams at EPYAL. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. Bob married Joyce (Burns) Stom on October 30, 2005 during a Sunday worship service at Snyder’s United Methodist Church, New Bloomfield, to the surprise and delight of the entire congregation.
