Wayne Elkin (Jr.) Baker

Wayne Elkin Baker Jr, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the age of 89. Wayne was the son of the late Wayne E. and Evelyn R. (Wright) Baker. He was married to Priscilla M. (Laverty) Baker for 62 years, until her passing in 2019. As a member of the Air Force, Wayne served in the Korean War and was highly decorated with several medals of accommodation. Wayne was a member of Enola Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He was very talented at miniature woodworking. His replica of the Star Barn was awarded multiple ribbons at the York Fair. Wayne is survived by his sons, Jeffrey W. Baker of Mechanicsburg, Matthew W. and wife Natalie (Carbo) Baker of Carlisle, granddaughters Bethany and Gianna Baker, and sister Carolyn (Baker) Steiner. He was preceded in death by his brothers George, Carl, Leon and Donald Baker. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 10:30 am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors.
