Wilhelm Mabius, 93, of Summerdale, Cumberland County passed away on May 21, 2022. Born in Harrisburg, he was one of eight children of the late John and Katherine Mabius. Wilhelm was preceded in death by brothers Harry, Johnny, Larry and Thomas, and sister’s Katherine Coup, Margaret Wilbert, Amy LeBard and eldest grandson Harley in 2021
He is survived by his loving wife, Delores, of 67 years, his sons: Bill (Cathy) and Bryan (Jennie), his grandsons Dalton and Tony, great grandson Gabriel along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and neighbors. Wilhelm, also known by his nickname, "Viv". Wilhelm retired as a welding superintendent from United Engineers having worked at Three Mile Island, and Salem New Jersey Nuclear Power Plants. During the Korean conflict, he served his country as an Army medic. He was also a long-time member of the Harrisburg First Seventh-day Adventist Church, a life member of the Summerdale Fire Company, and a member of American Legion Post 751.
Family and friends were the focal points of his life. He particularly enjoyed family gatherings, watching his grand kids' sporting events, traveling to distant shores with his wife, cutting grass at the family farm, telling funny jokes, watching travel and military history programs, and just plain enjoying each day.
He had a pleasant disposition with an unwavering positive outlook on life, which likely played a pivotal role to his longevity.
A tribute to his life will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 424 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg. Visitation will commence at11 am and the service will commence at 12 noon.
Interment will be at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with a brief service commencing at 2:00 pm the same day.
