William D. Griffith, Jr. (Griff) of Summerdale, PA passed away on May 7, 2020. Born at Harrisburg Hospital in 1942. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William D. Griffith, Sr. and Chrystal N. Griffith of Summerdale, along with his loving wife of 50 years Helen Griffith. He is survived by his children Michael P. Hock (Gretchen Young), Myrtle Beach, SC, and Michele M. Hock (Allison Sharpe), Johns Island, SC.
Brothers Thomas Griffith and wife Peg of Lewes DE, Ronald Griffith of Summerdale, and Sister Melissa Griffith of Atlanta GA. Nephews Thomas Griffith of North Carolina, Kieran Smith of Atlanta GA. Nieces Theresa Ripley of Lewes DE, and Rhanatah Griffith of Atlanta GA.
Retired in 2002 as chief administrative officer for PA Harness Racing and PA Horse Racing Commissions.
Community Service: Bill was midget baseball coach, assistant pony football coach, and baseball commissioner for East Pennsboro Youth Athletic League. After retiring from coaching he sponsored his former baseball team “The Bears”.
Graduated from East Pennsboro High School. Played football on the undefeated and unscored football team in 1959/60.
Affiliation Enola American Legion Post 75l, and Enola Sportsmen Association.
Due to current health concerns caused by Covid19, a private family graveside service will be held at Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill.
