William (Jig) Stoner Jr. Obituary

William A. (Jig) Stoner Jr., 74, of Enola, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at his home. Bill was the son of the late William A. Sr. and Vivian M. (Gibney) Stoner, from whom he got all his generous and loving qualities. Surviving are his cat Fluffy, a brother John R. and wife Janice M. (DePuy) Stoner of Enola, 2- nephews; John R. Stoner Jr. of Enola, and Stephen V. Sworen Jr. and wife Richelle of Mechanicsburg, and many cousins, and great-nieces and nephews. Bill was a Graduate from East Pennsboro High School Class 0f 1967 with honors. Bill was a Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a Radio Operator in an Army Helicopter unit. After the Army he worked at the Fruehauf Corporation as a maintenance mechanic, and retired when the Middletown Plant closed. He later worked at Towaway Express where he became Tom Sheaffer’s best friend and right hand man. For years he has been restoring vintage race cars for Paul Weisel’s EARHS museum in Orefield, PA. All of his life he had a dedication to building race cars. He had his greatest success at Silver Spring Speedway in the ninety’s with the help of dear friends, Buck and Linda Meyers and many others. He had tons of friends who he would help at the drop of a hat if they needed it. He invited everyone he met to the garage. Only fitting he was honored by the York County Racing Club last year as an owner, mechanic inductee. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM Monday, January 22, 2024, a viewing will be held from 6:00 pm until time of services in the Richardson Funeral Home LLC 29 S. Enola Dr. Enola, PA 17025. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, January 23, at 1:00 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd. Annville, PA 17003.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in his name to EARHS, P.O. Box 333, Orefield, PA 18069, or to a racing venue of your choice.
